A Samurai in Time (2024)

A historical drama comedy that depicts the struggle of a samurai of the end of the Edo period who travels back in time to a modern period drama studio and struggles as a slasher in a historical drama.

Kyoto at the end of the Edo period. Shinzaemon Kosaka, a member of the Aizu clan, receives a secret order from the elder to avenge the Choshu clan warriors, but the moment he crosses blades with the target man, he is knocked unconscious by a lightning strike. When I woke up, I found myself in a modern period drama studio. Shinzaemon causes mayhem everywhere he goes, and is dismayed to learn that the Edo shogunate has fallen 140 years ago. At one point, Shinzaemon was prepared to die, but with the help of kind-hearted people, he regained the will to live. Eventually, relying only on his polished sword skills, he knocks on the door of the studio and decides to live as a slasher.

Makiya Yamaguchi, who has appeared in numerous historical dramas such as the TV drama "Sword Shop" series, plays the lead role, and Norimasa Tomike and Yuno Sakura co-star. Directed and written by Junichi Yasuda of "Rice" and "Pistol and Fried Egg," the film was completed with the special cooperation of Toei Kyoto Studios, even though it was an independent production.
